She never told me why! RUDE! I happen to believe there is a god, (although my views on religion are complicated and I believe there is no such thing as a 'right' and a 'wrong' religion), I sometimes get confused responses by others. WHICH IS OK. What I'm not ok with is when I'm told what I need to be based on someone else's stereotype of what a gay person SHOULD be. It's very rude.

P.S. SORRY FOR SUCH A LATE UPDATE! School has been taking up my time and I've been pretty lazy lately.

I can kinda get what she's trying to say. It's kinda like you can't be a vegetarian if you eat meat. (I apologize to anyone who might be offended by this.)But to say they don't exist?! She's either crazy or blind, maybe both. :P

But you know, some people really get into the knitpicky details of their religion and are quick to judge others and not take a look at themselves to see if they pass their own strict beliefs. As long as you don't around having sex with every person you see or loveless relationships for fun, you're okay in my book. I feel the same for heteros. It really makes me sad seeing people other than heteros completely leaving their religion behind because of people like that girl.

Also didn't she consider what religion you might be from? It's rude to assume it's the same as hers! I think there's one religion that accepts lifestyles other than hetero. I forget the name, but I saw a TV special on it once. The name of the church was really long, I can't remember it. lol

Ahhh stereotypes. :I My aunt said the other day that if stereotypes are more then 50% 'true' then they are 'TRUE' stereotypes. And I'm like, wtf is that supposed to mean? Everyone isn't exactly the same, even if they are in some religious/racial/gender grouping.

I don't really believe in God but I think the IDEA that there is a God is necessary for a lot of people. I myself think a lot of times that LGBT+religion don't mix very well and it's mostly because the views on LGBT lifestyles are accepted on a religious institution to institution basis. So if your experience with religion is from around those who are generally not accepting, that'd influence you to make that claim on behalf of that particular, if not all, religions.

Too Many Words I think this conversation may have resulted from a fundamental misunderstanding, on her part, of human psychology, and a difference in definition of terms between the two of you. The psychology bit is long-winded and unnecessary, so I will forgo it in favor of the more concise (and I think more useful) explanation of where I think the misunderstanding took place.
It seems to me, from reading this very brief exchange in comic form, that her definition of 'religious' centers mostly around the three Judeo-Christian religions and assumes a fundamentalist belief in a holy book and that holy book is opposed to homosexuality. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me that your definition of religion is closer to spirituality, or simply a belief in a god or higher being, holy book optional. From a stance of spirituality, a belief in a god does not hinge upon anything other than personal faith. Since there is no exclusionary dogma to follow, there is no need for justification. From a fundamentalist point of view, her point of view, it is impossible to be 'gay and religious' because that would mean excluding yourself from your own beliefs. In the case of Christianity, damning yourself to eternal Hellfire (this, of course, is not in the bible but we are going with common conception(as opposed to immaculate (Ba-ZING!))). But even if you DID feel the need to take part in an exclusionary dogma it is a simple thing to justify. Rationalization is humanity's special ability.
What I think she SHOULD have said is something along the lines of "Gays should not participate in organized religion because those religions make a point of excluding those gay people." But even this is an oversimplification of religion. Practiced religion changes regularly to reflect developing culture and anyone can interpret any holy book in anyway they like.
So you are right if you believe that you can be gay AND be religious. Neither is mutually exclusive. And even if the people tell you their religion doesn't allow gays, it doesn't matter. All you need to do is decide that it does and there you go! Religions aren't unbreakable laws. You can pretty much make it up as you go.
If you read all this, thank you for indulging me.

Hey Jessica, I just have a question, how have you found your past girlfriends? Finding girls who ARE bisexual or lesbian can sometimes be difficult to find...or at least here they are"^^ so how have you like...got the confidence to confront a girl you liked and to find out they like girls too! Im just curious. c:

Reply Lesbian Comics, April 30th, 2012, 6:56 pm

@Superficial_Fox: You have been INDULGED. But you're basically right. I don't follow organized religion, and people who preach the bible (to me) are just saying opinion of what they understood (or any preaching of any religious writing etc). I guess I use it as a more spiritual comfort than stressing myself out with details that may or may no be written or rewritten by scholars back in the day.
I'm not too sure what the kid was getting at. This was back in middleschool, and she claimed to be an ally so I think that's why the situation stood out in my mind.

P.S. I don't think anyone should practice organized religion sometimes! When people tell you to not question them, it's insanely suspicious to me. WHAT COULD THEY BE HIDING TO NOT WANT THE MASSES TO QUESTION THEIR AUTHORITY?! SUSPICIOUSSSSSSSSSS!

Reply Lesbian Comics, April 30th, 2012, 7:03 pm

@W0rmh0le: I ACTUALLY ONLY DATED TWICE. (the third girl in one of my comics about girls being crazy was just a crush). And the first time I was asked out, the second time I asked her out, because she was pretty much obvious. (in terms that she always said how hot girls were, etc etc). I'm not confident at all, oh nonono. I'm very shy infact! And most people assume I'm straight. I get asked out a lot by men. I think you should just go with the flow. I don't look for women or seek out dates, I just sort of just live life and if I get along with some pretty lady I just talk and keep it friendly. If she likes other women and i'm attracted I may play around with her. (I FLIRT WIERD OK). It seems that ladies will show up, but you just gotta let it be. DO NOT SEEK OUT THE LADIES YOUNG ONE, BUT LET THEM COME TO YOU. (OR TOTALLY FLIRT WITH THEM, THAT'S OK TOO). I'm a terrible person to ask these questions oh my goodness...

Reply Silentunicorn, April 30th, 2012, 7:25 pm

@Lesbian Comics: Yeah, I am bi-sexual and religious, i understand what they think though. They think that if you like the same sex that you are commiting one of the most horrid sins and will never be able to go to heaven.

Um... K, so I know this is off topic, but the ad beneath this comic says "Homosexual sex acts taught in elementary school? Say no! Sign the petition!"

Sorry to break it to you, advertisers, but this probably isn't your intended audience...

ok, so I've something to say about religion and God...

According to the Bible, God sent his son, his ONLY son to die for our sins... well, we're also all his children... so... does that make us all girls? If it does... that means we're all LESBIANS! OH FUCK YES! <3

agreed to the zeneth i've been so absorbed with this comic, and every page has been GREAT but this one especially struck me because i've been told this EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

i don't agree with a lot of things in my religion ( which is christianity ) or my sect ( i'm catholic. mhm. ) and i do feel it needs to be revolutionized.

but just because i like my gender and the opposite gender and transgender and pretty much errbody, doesn't mean i can't be religious.

my faith is between me and God so people should butt out and stop telling me how to be... me!

/end rant.

sorry bout that ^_^''

great comic, very amusing, and VERY AWESOME!

I'm pansexual, and I believe in a God, and a Devil, (but not Jesus, sorry guys). Thing is, I just don't understand where they get the
whole "homosexuality is a sin" thing. Hell, I'm not even a homosexual, and I still feel like I get shit-talked! It's just... Why would God hate someone...for being in love? They say, "God loves everyone", but then someone says, "Good, because I'm gay", and suddenly, "God hates your effing guts, you queer."

But, last time I checked, God doesn't exactly TALK to those people, does He? He doesn't exactly CONFIDE in them with what He hates or does not hate. The Bible, though I haven't exactly READ IT, as I am neutral on the subject, does not say, "If you're gay then I hate you go kill yourself you sinning little-" If it DID, I think I would rather just be a Satanist. :I

I hate the church bitch I'm Bi I went to church just cause I was dragged. My friend and me are both Bi she's one of my best friends. She dragged me to go to a thing called riot with her and I did. After that we started to talk about death and heaven and hell and this bitch came out and said people who kill them selves don't go to heaven people who take away what God gave them don't deserve heaven I wanted to kill her that moment my uncles best friend killed him self after he found out his parents had been abused his little sister and had destroyed her legs and she could no longer walk. I wanted to kill that woman she made me so angry she made so many gays go to hell comments to.

I'm a hellenic polytheist (a.k.a i believe in the greek gods) and i'm gay... Its not like she even said "christian", she said religious. Like, if your gay, you cannot even be in a religion. Only a atheist. It's in the religion rule book.
