Ever since I got my hair cut, I've been getting a lot more attention from men then when I had long hair. Most of the time they're pretty nice and compliment me in a nonthreatening way (harmless flirting). BUT THEN. SOMETIMES I GET REALLY GROSS ONES. So gross that one student in my class has followed me and awkwardly trying to get physically close to me all quarter! THIS IS THE EXACT OPPOSITE OF WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD HAPPEN IN TERMS OF BOYS GIVING ME AFFECTION! I THOUGHT IT WAS GUNNA STOP, NOT GET WORSE UUUUUGH!

To remedy this, you must wear lots of flannel, beanies, baggy jeans and/or sweat pants, and combat boots. It'll work. I swear. If you want it to be even more effective, get a tongue piercing

Hmm, sorry if this is coming out of nowhere-but have you ever thought that you just have a pretty face?
Maybe when you had long hair-it sheilded your face more and made you blend in with other women, but now that you cut your hair (and women who have short hair styles get more attention than girls with long)men can see your face more clearly, spot you out more, and see how pretty you are :- PP
doesnt excuse how gross their being though > - < ugh, you can do it!!

I totally agree with ICE---TEA.
When I got my hair short I got constantly mistaken for a boy, and I have average size boobs (maybe they though they were manboobs?).
But some gross guys try to flirt with anything that moves... eww

The same thing happened to me. O.o When I first got my hair cut short, I felt like I had DYKE tattooed on my forehead (which in my opinion was a good thing) and yet somehow I immediately began to receive more male attention than normal. It was very confusing.

maybe you should just get HUGE LESBIAN shaved into the back of your head. that'll stop em for sure.

o3o naw your just pretty. Men have this odd attraction to pretty lesbians.

gross i know the exact feeling

Reply AliceAcid, April 29th, 2014, 8:25 am

yup...same problem here! I thought with my hair short, I'd send out some kind of lesbian-vibe but instead I get hit on by men at least as much as before and neutral people (platonic friends that don't flirt with me) agree that my face gets more attention with the short hair.

I've been out looking like a picture book hipster-dyke (which I consider a good look) and still a guy hit on me...no one questions my assumed heterosexuality...the look is also liked by elderly women...one even asked me if my husband cut my hair that nicely o_O

On the other hand: Isn't it nice that optical stereotypes are being dropped?

The problem is men feel more comfortable around stereotypically male features (and to a degree hetro women feel more comfortable around men showing stereotypically female features - see Twilight, for example).

So the shorter hair makes you seem more approachable and even safer to talk to.

That's the behind the scenes psychology, if it's of interest.
